Village Tales
Know-how and village community share a deep intricate link that is rooted in tradition, culture, and identity. For centuries, small villages have been home to skilled artisans who use their craft to produce unique goods that reflect the values, beliefs, and customs of their community. Through their art, they preserve and transmit the skills, stories, and symbols that bind the community together.
Nestled between Regent’s Park and Oxford street’s turbulence, the quiet yet intriguing Marylebone Village is home to the luxurious BoTree hotel. The curated art collection mirrors the rich tapestry of the neighborhood's traditional cultural heritage, paying homage to its picturesque village aesthetic and historical Pleasure Gardens. The selection not only captures the essence of the locale but also embodies the hotel's community values and dedication to conscious luxury.
Village Craft
At the hotel entrance, a series of panels form a sculptural gateway into the heart of Marylebone. Between each panel, an immersive digital floral backdrop—created by local AI design studio Visual Citizens—pays tribute to the blooming charm of the surrounding Marylebone Village, where flowers spill from shops and windows year-round.
Interwoven with these scenes are handcrafted objects by local artisans, representing the village’s enduring tradition of craft in a contemporary way. Blending digital innovation with tangible artistry, the installation invites guests into a curated journey through imagination, community, and conscious luxury.
Meet the Makers
Commissioned for the hotel, this compelling portrait series by Alun Callender invites guests into the personal worlds of local makers, capturing them within the creative spaces where their artistry comes to life. Intimate portraits are paired with close-up shots of their studios, revealing both process and personality in a visual narrative that celebrates the essence of their craft.
The wall gallery becomes more than a display—it is a unified artwork and an integral extension of the hotel’s curated collection, deepening its commitment to showcasing local talent.
Bo Roots
This piece was conceptualized to embody the hotel’s namesake, the Bodhi tree, integrating tangible "roots" as a direct reference to community values.
Crafted into a a unique bespoke sculpture by local London 3D-printers Blast Studio, this unique piece breathes new life into over 8,000 discarded coffee cups collected across London.
It’s organic tree trunk design beckons guests as both a sculptural marvel and a gathering point. The Bo Roots takes centre stage at The Botree, standing as a testament to conscious luxury, community harmony, and local artistry.
On each hotel floor, digital triptychs reimagine Marylebone’s historic Pleasure Gardens through an AI-enhanced lens. Merging historical references with modern tools, the artist treats AI as a craft in itself—using it to sculpt graceful figures and sumptuous costumes that evoke a richly imagined past. Each floor invites guests deeper into a layered journey where history, technology, and artistry converge.
